Jacobs 381 New Old Stock Vintage 3/16″-1/2″ Tap Chuck Heavy Duty 20JT
- With this chuck you won’t have to replace flex collets (at about $60 each). Jacobs made these over 50 years ago and were so well built that and easy to use. The back side screws are up and down in order for easy release off of drill press without using a hammer or drift. The idea of this chuck was to be able to use a chuck key to lock on to any tap from 3/16″ to 1/2″ with the ease of turning key and locking onto tap. Limited supply. These were replaced with flex collet chucks that are not as durable, but had their purpose. This offer is for the a usa made jacobs chuck and key for tapping and is very useful. It has a tapping capacity of 3/16-1/2″ taps and well fit on a standard 2 jacobs taper male. The jaws close as a square grip, but can be used to grab round drills up to 25/64″. Quality chuck retail for over $250. The chuck is extremely heavy duty (for ever-lasting longevity), with deep knurled exterior (for hand spinning if desired). This is a rare find and could save a lot of money for those who don’t need to spend hundreds and even $1000 for tapping heads.
